Sometimes known as the eighth wonder of the modern world, the Empire State Building is a true landmark. With its name derived from the nickname for the state of New York, the "Empire State," the Empire State Building was the first building to span over 100 floors when it was built in 1931.
This art deco skyscraper boasts a magnificent three-story high lobby featuring artwork of what it looked like before the antennas were added in 1952. Aside from the floodlights that illuminate the skyline during special events and different seasons, the building has been cast as a setting or background in countless television shows and movies including the infamous King Kong. New York City would not be complete without it.
